Installation

The UIG Community Notice Board can be installed and configured in any number of scenarios, however, at a minimum, the system will always require a server and at least one output device to be situated on site. Unlike other cloud based services, the UIG Community Notice Board will continue to operate correctly and respond to commands in real time even when internet services are unavailable. In the event of internet services not being available, the only noticeable impact upon the system is that the radio streaming will stop and the news/weather slides will not be shown.

The UIG Community Notice Board server is a physical appliance running an optimised version of Debian Linux including an Eclipse Jetty based web interface. Normal installations (for signage) are presented in a rack mounted ATX spec case which is deployed along with a rack-mounted modulator all of which is contained in a 6RU cabinet. If required, UIG can install directly into client racks in lieu of the 6RU cabinet.

In the majority of cases, staff members interact with the system via a web interface hosted locally on the UIG Community Notice Board server from any browser on their PC/laptop/phone etc. If required, the system can also be controlled by staff members using a dedicated app. Either way, users will always have the ability to control the system in real-time regardless of external connectivity (meaning that even if internet connections fail entirely, onsite users will still have full system control).

UIG will always conduct a site survey prior to installation whereby UIG will nominate a suitable location where connections to networks and MATV systems can be achieved.
